If there’s anyone on this earth who deserves a holiday, it’s Rosalía. Having opened the year with one of the decade’s most seminal albums – LUX, a contemporary, operatic paean to the history of sainthood – and now deep into a global tour that everyone I know who has attended describes as the closest thing to a transcendent religious experience they’ve ever had, the Catalan pop star has certainly been putting in the hours.
Then again, I’m not exactly worried for her. Committed to her craft as she is, Rosalía also knows how to let her hair down – and in style, mind you. I witnessed this on a recent trip to Brazil over the festive break, where the singer also happened to be holidaying. Well, I say witnessed. Rosalía and I spent much of the trip hopping between the same spots in Rio in what I’ve since romanticised as a glamorous game of cat and mouse. In reality, we were simply frequenting the same sort of locations that are just predictable faves among gringos, alas
Still, what dazzled was the popstar’s irresistible insouciance – the way she embodied the spirit of deep, sexy chill that I hope I’m one day able to on holiday. Ah, you do, too? Well, consider this your guide to dressing like Rosalía on holiday.
