Robert Kenyon’s past comments on his social media accounts overshadowed Reform UK’s campaign, and after his Makerfield humiliation, Carol Vorderman thinks she knows what’s behind itCarol Vorderman found herself under attack from Robert Kenyon(Image: Rowan Griffiths / Daily Mirror)Carol Vorderman said women were not fooled and ‘reacted’ to Reform’s ‘sexist’ candidate Robert Kenyon, after he came under fire for a number of disgusting social media posts.Carol was a victim of one of the so-called plucky plumber’s online comments, and said the party’s Makerfield humiliation should act as a warning. She added that people were now voting against candidates, and not just voting for them.Carol demanded an apology from the Reform UK candidate for what he posted about her on social media in the past. The broadcaster and former Countdown expert called him a “cowardly man” for a series of offensive posts that have since been deleted. He refused to apologise.Brits want to know if Nigel Farage will stand by Kenyon(Image: Getty Images)She said just desserts were served in Makerfield after Reform’s miserable showing, and reckoned a well-planned campaign warning locals about the party’s dangers might’ve helped.”We sent out over 13,000 letters. It was a letter from me personally directed to the women of Makerfield, woman to woman,” she told LBC tonight. “It is something that the Westminster village missed.”That low-level, grinding sexism – if you are famous or not famous, women just understand it.”So for someone to be put forward by Reform, who has admitted he was sexist, putting out multiple sexist tweets including one about me – and for Nigel Farage to say ‘so what?’ and calling it ‘laddish behaviour’? Women reacted. His followers taunted the plumber on social media (Image: Sean Hansford | Manchester Evening News)”You saw the reaction to Robert Kenyon on Question Time. If you are interested in politics or not, why do I have to put up with this nonsense? To ignore that is to ignore the vast majority of good people who live in this country. They were motivated.”Those are the things that drive people. There is a general sense of decency in society.”Asked about the race for No 10, Carol said: “I absolutely would love to see Andy Burnham take over. I would like to see a gracious transition and for him to be crowned in his home town of Liverpool in September.”The ‘plucky plumber’ has been ridiculed after many predicted a huge win for his party. Kenyon’s refusal to apologise for derogatory remarks about women enraged Brits, and many showed no mercy after he fell flat in Makerfield.”I am confident of a big vote for Reform tonight,” he posted on X, nearly 24 hours ago. “Thank you to everyone who placed their faith in me.”But things didn’t go his way – and it is fair to say neither did the responses.”You lost by a huge margin. You will never be heard from or seen again. Farage has already blocked you on his phone,” one follower told him.Another taunted the candidate: “You will be back fixing boilers on Monday mate.”Even Larry the No 10 cat took aim, saying: “Better man won Robbie. Anyway, take a leaf out of Zia Yusuf’s book and call yourself the shadow MP for Makerfield.”
