Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 will feature “massive amounts of customization” across all available classes, including the brand-new endgame Specialist class.
That’s according to game director Chris Cross, who told TechRadar Gaming in an interview at Summer Game Fest 2026 that besides the new addition of four-player co-op, “there are so many different ways to put together” the highly customizable Specialist class, which also has its own progression system.
“Basically, you can end up with like really awesome multiclass,” he said, adding as an example, “It’s like a Marauder and a Gunslinger.”
The game will also introduce four new elemental damage types, fire, cyro, electric, and piercing, as well as interchangeable weapon attachments, which can be used to combat the three “expanded” enemy factions, Xenomorphs, Pathogen horrors, and Security Synths, which will all have their own “weaknesses and strengths versus the different damage types.”
Players can also build their fireteam however they like, with Cross confirming that squads can “take four medics in and they’re not going to be the same.”
“There’s enough customization that you can take four medics in, and they’ll all be different,” he said, “It’s mostly weapon synergy, damage synergy, ability synergy. It’s funny, you would think that four medics are not as offensively capable, but actually, you can take a poison medic and drop off a med station that puts poison out; it’s almost a cheat code, because almost everybody’s running at overclocked help. It’s totally awesome.”
