Adam Peaty sent his estranged mother ‘a very formal text’ telling her he was expecting a baby with his new wife Holly as she was sharing the news with the world on her social media.
The swimming star’s snubbed mum Caroline said: ‘I am happy for them. News of a new baby is always welcome,’ according to a close family source.
But any chance the birth of the baby girl, due in December, will help heal the ongoing bitter feud is ‘highly unlikely’, they said.
The insider told the Daily Mail today: ‘The rift is beyond healing.’
The mother-of-four from Uttoxeter, Staffordshire, was away on holiday with husband Mark when she received the brief phone message from her Olympian son, whose high profile wedding in December she was banned from.
It was no surprise that the couple had planned for and wanted their first child together as among sought after gifts on their wedding list was an item from a posh nursery furniture firm – indicating their intention to start a family.

It was a beautiful Japandi rattan baby chest changer in light oak at £350 from Tutti Bambini, which features three spacious soft-close drawers and a removable changing top.
Former nursery nurse Mrs Peaty, 60, is already a doting grandma and cherishes Adam’s five-year-old son George he shares with former partner, artist Eirianedd ‘Eiri’ Munro.
Adam, 31, has now changed his name to Ramsay-Peaty after marrying influencer Holly, 26, daughter of celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay and wife Tana as the hurtful row continues.
The source said: ‘Caroline was on holiday. She received a very formal text. We don’t want to divulge the content but it was brief and to the point.
‘It was sent as Holly posted the news on Instagram.
‘There was no happy gathering, no phone call just a brief mobile message.’
The family, who want to try to make amends with Adam, believe his new life with the Ramsays has ‘turned his head and changed him.’
Adam is hoping to make history at the Commonwealth Games next month and become the first English swimmer to win four consecutive gold medals at the event. Abd he will do it under his new name with Team England, because the ‘Ramsay name opens doors’, the family source insisted.

In an emotional interview with the Daily Mail last autumn Mrs Peaty revealed that ‘dark family matters’ had led to the feud without wanting to elaborate on publicly.’
Sobbing at the time, she said: ‘I know he feels I am not good enough for his new family.
‘He’s under Gordon’s clutches. I can’t help but feel like they are pulling him away from me. Their family is very insular, it’s their group, and it’s as if he is being groomed by them.’
She added: ‘Adam has broken my heart but I love my son and always will, he’s still my little boy, and I hope his marriage is a good one and I hope he has a happy life like his mum and dad have.’
Mrs Peaty, who has been with her husband since 1989, wants her son to know: ‘There’s nothing you’ve done that I would not forgive. I love you so much.’
She said: ‘Everyone has faults, I’m not a perfect mother.
‘Adam and I had always had a very good relationship, but I found it challenging at times.’
She continued: ‘The thing with Adam and Holly has broken me and split me and my family.’
‘If this is what money does to people I prefer to stay as I am, as money isn’t everything. Life is more important, and I think Holly and Adam need to learn what is important.’
‘I have nothing against either of them, other that you don’t turn against your family.’
Loved-up couple Adam and Holly shared a sweet picture on Instagram in which the mum-to-be showed off her bare bump.

In a joint post, they wrote: ‘Baby Ramsay-Peaty coming December 2026. We can’t wait to meet our baby girl.’
Gordon, who shares six children with wife Tana, voiced his delight at the news in the comments of Holly’s post, writing: ‘Congratulations to you both sending lots of love Dad.
‘I’m going to be a very overexcited Grandad especially this Christmas @hollyramsaypeaty @adamramsaypeaty.’
Holly’s sister Tilly also gushed that it was the ‘best news ever.’
Family friend Victoria Beckham wrote: ‘Congratulations!’
Adam’s sister Bethany was the only member of his family who attended his wedding last year, with the carer herself saying she’s divided in her loyalties between her brother and her parents. You can read the full interview here.
Adam has been fully embraced by Gordon and wife Tana and even now calls them ‘dad’ and ‘mum’.
Gordon revealed Adam’s new moniker for him, saying: ‘He calls me dad. He messaged me and said, “Hey dad, what have you got? Hey dad, are you around later?” And it’s just like, “Oh my God”. Incredible.’
Gordon himself has previously defended the family when it comes to the Peaty/Ramsay fall out, calling it all ‘self-inflicted from their side’.
He said: ‘We sent a chauffeur-driven car for them to come to the engagement party and treated them like royalty. So to get that barrage of press was very hurtful. Tana took it very seriously.’
Gordon had commented on how beautiful his daughter looked during his wedding speech, telling Adam: ‘Look at Tana and that’s what you have to look forward to.’
The publication went on to claim that he couldn’t resist a sly dig at Adam’s absent parents as he told his daughter Holly: ‘Shame you don’t have the same.’

It was later revealed that the swimmer’s estranged mother had been left ‘outraged’ and ‘hurt’ that Gordon had referred to their feud in his speech.
A family source told the Daily Mail she was left horrified by the moment in the speech and believed the celebrity chef had ‘pre-planned’ the cruel swipe against her, calling it ‘cruel’ and ‘very hurtful’.
But Gordon doubled down on his speech as he appeared on This Morning in January, insisting that what he had to say at the wedding reception was ‘perfect and warm’.
He said: ‘It’s tough, honestly. Being the dad with three daughters, you dream of that moment and that moment arrives and you’re just like a hot mess.
‘But, the speech was perfect, it went well and you’ve got to find that… You’ve got to be warm, emotional… It’s a tough gig.’
Since getting married Adam has relocated to London having spent his whole life in the Midlands.
He recently said: ‘I’m loving it. I’m still getting used to the Tube maps. But it has been an incredible thing. It has been timed perfectly.
‘Being married, and with future family plans and everything that is going on, I think London is the best place for me. It allows me to focus. I can just get in that zone here.
Holly and Adam are reportedly being morphed into the next power couple by their pals, former soccer ace David Beckham and his fashion designer wife, and ex Spice Girl, Victoria.
