Following her screen debut at 16 in 1983’s Bush Christmas, Nicole Kidman quickly established herself as one of Australia’s brightest young talents. Critical acclaim followed with her performance in 1989’s Dead Calm, before a Hollywood breakthrough opposite Tom Cruise in 1990’s Days of Thunder. Since then, Kidman has cemented her status as one of the industry’s most formidable stars, winning six Golden Globes for roles in To Die For, Moulin Rouge!, Big Little Lies, Being the Ricardos and The Hours, the latter of which also earned her an Academy Award. More than four decades into her career, she shows no signs of slowing down.
As well as acting, Nicole has been a Goodwill Ambassador for UNICEF since 1994 and was awarded Australia’s most prestigious civil honour, a Companion in the Order of Australia from Queen Elizabeth II for her contribution to cinema and her work promoting women and children’s health. Naturally, decades in the spotlight have made her a master of red-carpet dressing. Her style has evolved from classic satin ’90s gowns, to more romantic looks courtesy of custom-made Balenciaga and Chanel, returning to the house this year as a brand ambassador, two decades after she famously starred in the iconic 2004 Chanel No 5 campaign directed by Baz Luhrmann.
Below, we take a look at Nicole Kidman’s best looks to date.
