GOSSIP99 : Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce spark more wedding speculation as permits are filed around iconic Madison Square Garden

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce seem to be fueling rumors of a wedding event at Madison Square Garden as permits were filed around the area.

The 36-year-old pop megastar and 36-year-old NFL superstar have remained quiet about their wedding plans, however, Daily Mail reported earlier this month that the two would be throwing a big nuptial gathering in New York City on July 3.

Now, a request with the New York City permit office to close streets around the iconic arena Madison Square Garden from July 2 to midday July 4 has been filed according to sources for TMZ.

Included in the request by event planners were spaces for tents, canopies, and trucks around the famous arena.

In addition, city officials are moving forward under the assumption that a major Swift-related event is heading to MSG according to TMZ.

They also report that several members of the Kansas City Chiefs – which is the only professional team Kelce has played for – have booked rooms at the famous Marriott Marquis in Times Square around those dates.

Perhaps the most eyebrow-raising account came from the New York Times as a city official who is claimed to have been briefed on preparations said that the arena is planning to host ‘wedding festivities’ on July 3.  

Back on June 5, an insider exclusively told Daily Mail that the couple will tie the knot at Madison Square Garden, as they’ve decided to ’embrace the spectacle’ of a giant wedding. 

The iconic – and enormous – venue is best known for concerts and professional sports, and can hold up to 22,000 people, however it’s unclear just how many people will be invited to witness Swift and Kelce tie the knot there. 

The source also dished to Daily Mail that the superstar couple were considering Casa Cipriani as a potential wedding venue prior to settling on MSG. 

The luxe private members club, located in Manhattan’s Financial District close to the World Trade Center, may still be used by the lovebirds for a private celebration, per the source.

The insider also says the NYPD are already in discussions to help secure MSG ahead of the wedding, which is expected to take place on Friday, July 3.  

The Daily Mail reached out to Swift’s representative for confirmation at the time.

Page Six reported in April that businessman Michael Rubin has moved his annual July 4 bash so it doesn’t coincide with the couple’s wedding.  

Rubin is said to have bumped his party to July 1. 

Insiders previously told The Daily Mail in May that wedding guests won’t know the location until the morning of July 3.  

Before the MSG tip, one invitee speculated that Swift and Kelce could marry in an iconic hotel ballroom. 

‘I get that, she doesn’t want everyone knowing where she is getting married until the last minute for security reasons,’ a source said.
