Hailey Bieber’s shimmering, light-catching chrome nails (then dubbed the “glazed doughnut” manicure) dominated the three years post-pandemic. Our return to nail salons was made all the better for a new trend to try.
This summer, there’s one that keeps popping up – on red carpets, celebrity nail artist snaps and in-the-know fingers: the polka dot French.
Why have we gone so dotty for spots? Manicurist Georgia Barker has a theory: “There’s a definite shift towards designs that feel both retro and fresh, and polka dots strike that perfect balance. Because of their versatility, you can keep them simple and minimal, or dial up the drama with clashing colours.”
