Rumours of a rift between Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi and their Cotswolds neighbour Jeremy Clarkson have resurfaced.
Back in November 2024 video of the Hollywood stars partying at Clarkson’s pub the Farmer’s Boy went viral after the British TV star’s partner Lisa Hogan shared the fun footage online to promote the newly-opened venue.
Their surprise appearance at a Corrs gig in the pub sparked frenzied excitement as well as confirming US chat show queen Ellen and her actress wife’s UK move, after they quit America in an apparent protest at Donald Trump’s second presidential term.
Footage of Ellen and Portia at the pub though has been totally erased from coverage of the impromptu Corrs gig on the new series of Clarkson’s Farm, which returned to screens this week.
Series five of the hit Amazon Prime show focuses on Clarkson opening the Farmer’s Boy.
On episode two Clarkson teases: ‘Some very special guests are inbound. I’d always been keen for the pub to host live music evenings. Lisa, having trawled through her Irish address book, had managed to book The Corrs.’

The Corrs are then seen playing their hits while the crowd dances and sings and camera angles pan widely around the pub taking in scores of happy punters.
Lisa’s Instagram video shared at the time showed that Ellen and Portia were on the busy first floor balcony overlooking the gig just a few feet away but there is no sighting of them or fellow celeb punters Natalie Imbrulgia and James Blunt in the TV footage.
Back in 2025 the Daily Mail reported that Lisa’s decision to share the video of Ellen and Portia, who at the time had only just secretly moved from Montecito in California to a large farmhouse just a mile away from the pub, might have started a rift.
Sources close to the pair said that the huge media interest surrounding their move to the Cotswolds was sparked only after they appeared in the video.
‘The interest around them was frenzied,’ an insider said. ‘The moment it was realized they had moved in near the Farmer’s Dog, there were paparazzi photographers swarming everywhere for weeks on end.’
‘This didn’t enamour Ellen and Portia with the area and was in some part why they eventually moved away.’
The footage was later deleted from her Instagram account and it emerged the couple preferred to spend their nights out in another nearby pub, The Three Horseshoes, where they were able to enjoy a drink without attracting attention and is just a short stroll away from their home.
Clarkson denied there was a rift with the couple – despite further reports that workers refilling Ellen’s 56ft-long swimming pool may have been inadvertently responsible for the pub’s disastrous opening.

On his second day in business the pub’s water supply dried up as, a short distance away, maintenance men were said to have been filling the pool with huge amounts of water to prepare for Ellen’s arrival at her new home.
Since that time, Ellen and Portia appear to have voted with their feet, moving out of £20million Kitesbridge Farm they bought near Clarkson’s pub, and buying yet another £20million home 30 minutes north in the Cotswolds, near Chipping Norton.
Their new local is the Falkland Arms in Great Tew, the celebrity enclave where The Beckhams live and which is local to A-lister hang-out Soho Farmhouse.
The situation with Clarkson was one of a string of problems for Ellen and Portia since they moved to the Cotswolds 18 months ago.
Their old home – Kitesbridge Farm, which they still own – had its surrounding land flooded repeatedly when a Thames tributary – the Windrush River – burst its banks back in the autumns of 2024 and 2025.
There were also fall-outs with local planners, and reports that they gazumped another buyer of the farmhouse originally.

Further reports suggest that they have been unable to sell the waterlogged farm since and that the floodwaters were also filled with sewage effluent. And the couple’s problems did not end at their first home.
In March last year, as the Daily Mail revealed, the couple had completed the purchase of their second home and quickly moved into the single-storey minimalist house which is perched on a hilltop outside another Oxfordshire village.
The massive master bedroom has a huge walk-in wardrobe and two en-suite bathrooms while four further bedrooms are also en-suite.
And, thankfully, planning documents showed that its elevated position and ‘sustainable drainage system’ meant it was not ‘at risk of flooding’.
However, it is unclear whether the couple had been briefed, though, on the property’s grisly past when they moved it.
The house was built on the site of an old farmhouse which was the scene of a gruesome murder and stood empty for many years before being demolished.
Meanwhile, a series of UK shows of Ellen ‘in conversation’ planned for October and November last year were quietly cancelled with venues refunding ticket-holders as Ellen headed back to the US for some sun, fearing another chilly wet British winter.
