Goldie Hawn has been in a relationship with Kurt Russell since 1983.
But the actress, 80, and her longtime beau, 75, have never considered tying the knot during their 43 years together.
‘We thought that by getting married that was actually going to take something from both of us that we didn’t want,’ Hawn told Entertainment Tonight this week, adding, ‘We want to choose each other every day.’
The Private Benjamin actress continued, saying: ‘I don’t like ownership, you know? And I must say that I think Kurt feels the same way.’
‘I think that’s one of the areas where we all have to feel free to be who we are, and think the way we do, and for those of us who are, basically, want to have a happy life, I think you want to be happy with yourself.’
Elsewhere in her red carpet interview promoting her children’s book series The After-School Kindness Crew, Hawn gushed about Russell, calling him ‘kind’, ‘funny’ and ‘romantic’.

The Hollywood veterans, who began dating while filming the movie Swing Shift in 1983, share son Wyatt, 39.
Their blended family also includes 46-year-old Boston Russell, whom the Madison star welcomed with ex-wife Season Hubley; and Hawn’s children Oliver, 49, and Kate Hudson, 47, whom she shares with ex-husband Bill Hudson.
Hawn was married to Hudson from 1976-1982, and she was previously wed to Gus Trikonis from 1969-1976.
In January, she made a candid admission about her partner of the last four decades.
Hawn said on The Dan Buettner Podcast that she is still ‘very sexually attracted’ to Russell.
‘And that’s important. If you have a long-term sexual relationship, that’s actually really healthy. He’s my sexual object,’ she emphasized.
The actress also said: ‘I find him incredibly handsome to this day.’
Speaking with People magazine this week, the silver screen siren said she likes the ‘freedom’ that comes with her romance.

‘When I say freedom, it means liberation, I don’t feel penned in,’ she elaborated.
‘We don’t always agree on stuff, which is fine. We’re both very spontaneous. [Our relationship] fed on a lot of goodness, a lot of wonderful life together.’
Hawn has been busy promoting her new children’s book series The After-School Kindness Crew.
She co-wrote the story with Lin Oliver.
The first book was published on Tuesday by Penguin Workshop.
For his part, Russell is currently starring in the Paramount+ series The Madison alongside Michelle Pfeiffer.
