Mike Vitar was seen enjoying a rare outing this week after stepping away from Hollywood decades earlier.
The 47-year-old star is known for portraying the character of Benjamin ‘Benny’ Rodriquez in the 1993 sports comedy film The Sandlot.
The former actor also took on a role in the Mighty Ducks franchise during the 1990s.
Vitar’s final acting credit was in 1997 before he stepped away from the spotlight and later pursued a career as a firefighter.
He was recently spotted attending a jiu jitsu class on Tuesday in Simi Valley, California which is around 37 miles north of the city of Los Angeles.
Vitar kept it casual wearing short-sleeved black shirt as well as a pair of khaki shorts and black flip flops.

Vitar made his way through a crowded parking lot before heading to his next destination for the evening.
The retired star made his acting debut in the 1991 project titled Diplomatic Immunity and appeared in an episode of the series Brooklyn Bridge that same year.
Soon after, he was cast as Benny Rodriguez in The Sandlot, which hit theaters in April 1993 and raked in around $34 million in the global box office.
The coming-of-age sports comedy additionally starred Tom Guiry, Karen Allen, Denis Leary, James Earl Jones, Patrick Renna, Chauncey Leopardi, Marty York and Brandon Quinton Adams.
The premise is: ‘In the summer of 1962, a new kid in town is taken under the wing of a young baseball prodigy and his rowdy team, resulting in many adventures,’ per IMDB.
The film spawned two sequels: The Sandlot 2 (2005) and The Sandlot: Heading Home (2007).

A decade earlier, Vitar found himself in legal troubles after he and two other alleged attackers beat up a then 22-year-old Samuel Chang in L.A. on Halloween night for ‘handing out candies to children’
He also had minor guest roles in shows such as NYPD Blue. His final acting credit was in a 1997 episode of Chicago Hope.
Vitar stepped away from Hollywood and has since pursued a career as a fireman.
A decade earlier, Vitar found himself in legal troubles after he and two other alleged attackers beat up a then 22-year-old Samuel Chang in L.A. on Halloween night in 2015 for ‘handing out candies to children.’
The former actor pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor battery in a deal he accepted for attacking the man.
He also went on an unpaid six month suspension from the fire department.
The plea deal had also required Vitar to complete 90 days of community service and take 12 months of anger management classes.
Both he and the two other firefighters involved in the attack initially were facing four years in prison for felony assault.
Vitar is not the only star from The Sandlot that has also chosen to step away from Hollywood.

Chauncey Leopardi, who played Michael ‘Squints’ Palledorous, talked to People last year as he opened up about focusing on his cannabis brand rather than a career in the industry.
‘I loved when I was acting but I didn’t necessarily like the business side of Hollywood,’ he told the outlet.
‘Who knows what it’s like anymore with streaming and more of a focus on social media but growing up, there were a lot of powerful people in high places that had their sway on who and what was popular, so to speak.’
Leopardi also recalled, ‘The grinding, the auditions and all that…I got to a point where I wondered, “Do I even like doing this? is it something I’m truly passionate about?”‘
However, he explained that most of the cast still remains in touch with each other years after the first movie hit theaters.
‘We have multiple group chats. They’re funny, they’ll hit you at random times,’ Leopardi shared.
He also added that they still spend time together for ‘big national sports signing and we do pop stuff and comic con type things.’

The 1993 film’s director David Mickey Evans said on the Today show, ‘The film was made with the same amount of love that people have for it, and it was the greatest summer of our lives.’
Tom Guiry also chimed in to expressed, ‘It made a big impact on a lot of people’s lives.’
The cast stepped back onto the baseball field in celebration of the milestone anniversary to also take part in a lighthearted match once again for fans.
