Justin Theroux just revealed how his beloved pit bull Kuma is behaving around the newborn son he welcomed three weeks ago with his much younger second wife, The Gilded Age actress Nicole Brydon Bloom.
‘Oh she’s perfect,’ the 54-year-old new father said on TODAY on Thursday. ‘She’s really perfect, gentle. Her energy is great.’
Pit bulls can cause severe injuries with the force of their bite, 300+ lbs per square inch of pressure, and having them around infants is a highly debatable topic amongst parents.
Pediatricians reportedly recommend not leaving babies alone with pit bulls, which poses a higher risk than other breed of dogs.
However, Theroux has not observed any jealousy or aggression from his canine companion – whose name means ‘bear’ in Japanese – and he shared a backstage video of her proudly wearing a ‘big sister’ bandana.
‘No! She is so sweet,’ the two-time Emmy-winning producer insisted.

‘Honestly, she reads the room. She’s very tender. We’ll bring him into the room and she’ll just sort of post up near us, keep her eye on the door and makes sure nobody comes in.’
Little Kuma got her very own gift basket during the taping at Studio 1A inside Rockefeller Center, and she immediately gnawed away at the lambchop toy.
Theroux famously rescued the female dog from the threat of euthanasia by adopting her from Austin Pets Alive in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey in 2018.
The Fallout actor – who’s 22 years older than his wife – announced the birth of his first child last Saturday in a joint Instagram post captioned: ‘He’s here, we are so in love.’
‘I just love looking into his eyeballs,’ Theroux gushed on TODAY.
‘It’s just beautiful, it’s just a wonderful thing. We’re in that period now, of course, where it’s a lot of just quiet tiptoeing around the house, beautiful, occasional crying. Yeah, it’s wonderful.’
The Washington, D.C.-born actor noted that Bloom is the one ‘doing the Herculean task of feeding’ their little one, and he marveled about fatherhood being ‘so much better’ than he imagined.
‘I’ve been told by other fathers, “Wait until you see this child. You’re gonna fall in love.” And you still always have that little moment of like, “Is that really going to happen?”‘ Theroux recalled.
‘And the minute he appears, your whole life just starts to revolve around this thing, and your heart just opens up in a beautiful way. So I’m really happy, really happy.’
