Sex and the City icon Jason Lewis has made a sensational U-turn on his opinion of co-star Kim Cattrall – amid her famed feud with Sarah Jessica Parker.
Lewis, 54, melted hearts as the handsome and kind waiter-turned-actor Smith Jerrod on the show, and won plaudits for his chemistry with love interest Samantha Jones, played by Cattrall, 69.
However, in 2018, Lewis firmly took Carrie Bradshaw star Parker’s side, lauding her as a ‘gracious lady’ and taking a shot at Cattrall with, ‘if you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all.’
Eight years on, Lewis’s opinion seems to have changed as he gushed about his co-star to a fan on Instagram.
Promoting his new collaboration with Owl’s Brews in a video featuring several references to Smith and Samantha’s romance, one follower wrote, ‘that Samantha call back was EVERYTHINGGGGG!! He knows his base.’
Lewis responded, ‘Smith was nothing without her.’

Followers went into meltdown with one writing, ‘In an alternate reality smith and Samantha made it they were end game in my book.’
Lewis’ character on Sex And The City was a young waiter and aspiring actor who was seduced by series lead Jones, played by Cattrall.
Samantha, who convinced him to change his name from Jerry Jerrod to Smith, used her PR connections to land him a major modeling gig which led to a film role.
Their relationship, which started off as casual, later turned serious after he supported Jones through her battle with breast cancer.
When the series ended in 2004, the couple were still together and in love. However, Jason played Smith again in 2008’s Sex and the City: The Movie and the two characters broke up after Samantha moved to Los Angeles.
Lewis returned for the 2010 sequel Sex And The City 2 and it appeared that Smith and Samantha were still on good terms as he invited her to be his date to his new action film’s premiere.
The actor sent shockwaves around SATC fans in 2018 when he said of Cattrall: ‘Mmhmm…if you can’t say something nice don’t say anything at all. Listen, I have to say that Sarah was always just so lovely and such a consummate professional and I think that people should remember their graciousness and the things that have been given to them.
‘And I’m gonna stop there because I’ve got nothing good to say.’

When asked if that meant he was on ‘team Sarah,’ he replied. ‘I might just have to say yeah…what a gracious lady. She was always so good to me.’
In 2021, Lewis said he would not appear in …And Just Like That.
In an interview with the Daily Front Row, the actor said he was asked if he had been approached to return to the HBO franchise.
‘I have not, but I would be the last to know!’ the star said. He added, ‘As much as I appreciate the flattery, the conversation is about the girls.’ Filming for the revival is set to begin later this spring.
Cattrall was reportedly paid $1 million to briefly renew her role as PR mogul Jones for a 70-second cameo in the season two finale of AJLT.
She agreed only after negotiating directly with HBO Max chairman and CEO Casey Bloys.
Rumors of jealousy and infighting on the set of the long-running HBO series have circulated for years, long after the show’s 2004 finale.

In 2017, Cattrall told Piers Morgan that Parker ‘could have been nicer’ to her during their time on the Sex and the City TV series and two subsequent movies.
‘I don’t know what her issue is, I never have,’ concluded the actress.
The Big Trouble in Little China star took aim at Parker in February 2018, after the Divorce actress publicly commiserated over the death of Cattrall’s brother.
‘My Mom asked me today ‘When will that @sarahjessicaparker, that hypocrite, leave you alone?’” Cattrall wrote on Instagram at the time.
‘Let me make this VERY clear. (If I haven’t already) You are not my family. You are not my friend. So I’m writing to tell you one last time to stop exploiting our tragedy in order to restore your ‘nice girl’ persona’ she concluded the savage takedown.
