Sunday Rose Kidman Urban, the eldest daughter of very consciously uncoupled exes Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban, has apparently made her loyalties clear for the first time since news of her parents’ split broke last September.
In what may be viewed as a uniquely Gen-Z type of public statement, the nepo baby model, 17, seemed to unfollow her country music star father on Instagram on Monday.
Within 24 hours, however, country star Urban was re-listed as someone Sunday Rose follows.
Still, the social media move signaled to many that Urban’s relationship with his teen daughters (Sunday Rose has 15-year-old sister Faith Margaret) is fractured in the wake of his divorce from their mother, which was finalized in January.
Some have openly wondered if the father-daughter distance has anything to do with the 58-year-old Urban having been romantically linked to multiple younger musicians in Nashville, the family’s chosen hometown, so soon after his break from Kidman.
And according to sources who spoke exclusively to the Daily Mail, Urban’s relationship with his girls may be far more damaged than it already seems.

One insider close to Urban describes the country star as ‘distraught’.
‘[The girls] are completely team Nicole and, right now, Keith is the bad guy. He is the cause of every problem in their minds, and it’s harrowing for him. He’s really distraught about it,’ the source said, before also admitting: ‘He loves those girls, but they are so angry at him and they’re blaming him.
‘I don’t even think this is Nicole painting a narrative; this is the girls coming to this conclusion on their own.’
Kidman, also 58, filed for divorce after nearly 20 years of marriage on September 30 last year. Proceedings were finalized in January.
The actress, who was was previously married to actor Tom Cruise, fought Urban fiercely for her girls.
When Kidman divorced Cruise in 2001 after 11 years of marriage, they agreed to joint custody of their two adopted children – Isabella, now 32, and Connor, 30 – who ultimately decided to live primarily with their father.
That led to an estranged relationship with Kidman, who reportedly still craves ‘reconciliation’ with her two eldest.
Court documents obtained by the Daily Mail revealed in January that – despite reports custody of Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret had become a ‘sticking point’ in negotiations – Kidman won out, and is entitled to spend spend 306 days of the year with their daughters, while Urban gets 59 days, or ‘every other weekend.’
The actress has since remained with the girls in the family Nashville mansion – a sprawling seven-bed in an exclusive gated community which the couple bought for $3.5 million in 2008 as a primary residence in which to raise their girls.

Urban, meanwhile, is understood to have moved out to a nearby residence in the summer last year.
Kidman traveled alone with the girls to her native Australia this past Christmas, where Faith celebrated her milestone 15th birthday in late December.
The new dynamic, a friend told Australian magazine New Idea at the time, felt like a ‘gut punch’.
‘He’s completely lost,’ they said.
Little, it seems, has improved.
‘He was texting [his daughters] before and getting one or two-word answers, if he got anything at all. Now nothing,’ a source told the Daily Mail.
‘For now, he’s just letting it happen and hoping that they can talk it out down the road. It hurts but hopefully at some point they can have the conversations and move forward.’

It likely hasn’t help that Urban has recently been linked to multiple female country stars – who are far closer in age to his daughters than to Urban himself.
Just days after Kidman filed to end their marriage last year, sources claimed to the Daily Mail that Urban had already moved on with a younger woman in the music industry.
Maggie Baugh, a 26-year-old country music star who joined Urban on his tour last year, raised eyebrows for her on-stage rapport with Urban.
Baugh’s friend, Alexandra Kay, later denied rumors of a relationship with Urban, calling them ‘absolutely not true.’
Then in January, Urban was linked to yet another rising country musician, Karley Scott Collins, who had opened for him on his 2025 High and Alive World Tour.
The singer, 26, has also denied reports of a relationship as ‘absolutely ridiculous and untrue.’
Her mother, Nena Collins, confirmed as much when she was asked by the Daily Mail this week, bashing any romance speculation as ‘crazy’.
‘None of that stuff is true,’ she said.

For Urban’s part, while he has yet to publicly acknowledge any gossip about his love life, an insider said he has been feeling some ‘guilt and shame’ over how his marriage ended.
‘He’s in a lot of pain right now,’ the insider said.
‘The worst pain is the type that you inflict on yourself, so he’s got some guilt and shame and hurt. He’s struggling to make sense of it right now.’
At the time of their split, it was reported that Urban had been the one to instigate the end their marriage, leaving Kidman ‘blindsided’. The couple’s busy schedules were blamed for Urban’s ‘unhappiness’.
‘Keith and Nicole always had an interesting marriage,’ another source now says.
‘They both worked a ton and were gone a lot, especially Keith, so the girls didn’t spend nearly as much time with him. He was always touring.
‘Nicole always juggled a bunch of projects, but she was around them more. There wasn’t a ton of family time together, so it makes total sense that they are closer to their mother through all of this. They were never as close with their dad to begin with.’
Indeed, Sunday Rose has often publicly praised her mother.
Last month, in a cover interview with Elle Australia magazine, she dubbed Kidman her ‘biggest inspiration in life’ and credited the actress for her burgeoning career as a model.
She added that her mother’s influence extended beyond work, gushing that Kidman was ‘a key part of everything I do’.
As for Kidman, earlier this month at a live speaking event in Philadelphia, she said of her girls: ‘We’re so close, the three of us, we talk about everything.’

An insider told the Daily Mail that Urban does not have a bad word to say about his ex’s tight-knit relationship with their daughters.
‘Keith has said that Nicole has been great during all of this,’ the insider said. ‘But the girls are young, they’re hurt, and they have to choose sides in their minds. So, they have chosen mom.
‘Obviously, Keith is not a perfect man – nobody is. But whatever his issues between him and Nicole are, he still loves his daughters very much. For them to cut him out is really hurtful.’
The Daily Mail has contacted representatives for Urban and Kidman for comment.
