Ariana Grande took the White House to task this week after it used her 2024 track Bye as the background to a TikTok clip hyping arrests made by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
‘Please do not ever use my music in relation to this barbaric, inhumane, heinous nonsense,’ the 32-year-old pop star said in a comment on the platform.
She further clarified her thoughts on the agency in writing, ‘Fck ice.’
The Boca Raton, Florida native’s comment on the post, her spokesperson told Variety, was ‘for some reason … not publicly visible’ on the platform.
Grande’s team had been seeking to have the music to be taken off the clip, as the song appeared to be removed after she issued her request, the outlet reported.
White House spokeswoman Abigail Jackson issued a statement repurposing Grande’s words to illustrate what she said was the objective of the ICE arrests seen in the clip.

‘We’ll say this one last time: what’s actually barbaric, inhumane, and heinous are the criminal illegal aliens who have injured and murdered innocent American citizens,’ Jackson said, according to Reuters.
Grande last fall reposted an Instagram Stories post penned by activist Matt Bernstein that was critical of the second Trump administration after its first eight months.
The post reposted by Grande read, ‘It’s been 250 days. Now that immigrants have been violently torn from their families and communities have been destroyed, now that trans people have been blamed for virtually everything and live in fear, now that free speech is on the brink of collapse for us all – has your life gotten better?’
Kush Desai, the White House’s Deputy Press Secretary, praised President Donald Trump’s efforts on many fronts in a reply to Grande’s outrage at the time.
‘Save your tears, Ariana,’ Desai said, according to Entertainment Weekly. ‘Because President Trump’s actions ended Joe Biden’s inflation crisis and are bringing in trillions in new investment.

Grande has past been clear about her political leanings, as she threw her support behind Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris during the 2024 election cycle.
Grande also took the stage for former President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama during a 2014 event titled In Performance at the White House: Women of Soul.
Grande is currently on the road on The Eternal Sunshine Tour, with a concert at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles slated for Saturday.
