I’ll be the first to admit that the phrase “It-girl” is wildly overused. And as with any term designed to confer exclusivity, the more it’s used, the more meaningless it becomes. But few people would argue with the suggestion that Zoë Kravitz has earned the title.
Apart from, perhaps, Zoë Kravitz herself. “The word ‘cool’ gets thrown around a lot,” she said in her cover interview for the July issue of British Vogue. “It’s something that is written about me or it’s what people, when they get to know me, tell me that they thought I was going to be like. People might tell me, “Oh, wow, I was intimidated when I first met you” and “I thought you were going to be like this.” And to me, it’s really surprising because it feels far away from who I am.”
Here’s what I think: far from the mega-influencers and social-media savvy A-listers whose entire lives have become marketing exercises, Kravitz’s appeal comes from a certain sense of remove. She is on Instagram, but rarely posts anything beyond professional projects, and despite having long being the subject of media speculation, her private life remains private (which is saying something, when you consider her nepo-baby credentials and very, very famous fiancé).
Of course, her pitch-perfect style is in part a testament to the skilled stylists she has worked with over the years – Danielle Goldberg was the mastermind behind the Kravitz’s viral sports shorts and slogan tee look in 2025. But no stylist can claim credit for the way she wears these looks. It’s that air of DGAF that the finest It-girls share: the Kate Mosses, the Chloë Sevignys, the Olsens. Thanks to a distance that borders on indifference, they always leave us wanting more. “Zoë just makes everything cool because she is,” Goldberg said, referring to the time Kravitz once arrived at a fitting with a set of keys hanging around her neck on a long lanyard. As she graces the cover of British Vogue for the third time, we look back at nine moments that solidified Zoë Kravitz’s status as the ultimate off-duty It-girl. From slip skirts and tanks to easy autumn layers, scroll down to see and shop her looks.
