Elle Fanning‘s co-star Michael Angarano said that preparations for their sex scenes together in Margo’s Got Money Troubles left him ‘sore.’
The 38-year-old actor opened up about filming the comedy-drama series with Fanning, 28, and shed light on what went into some of the steamy moments.
‘We had rehearsals that were for our sex scenes, but they called it stunt rehearsals,’ he told People at the premiere in New York City on Wednesday, April 8.
‘It was actually kind of fun thinking of it like stunt work,’ he added.
He explained that he and Fanning – who enjoyed a sister moment with Dakota Fanning, 32, at SXSW last month and said she was ‘on set a lot’ for support – had to do physical preparations before filming.
‘You’re sore after,’ he said before adding that rehearsing the sex scenes together was a ‘bonding’ experience between them.

In the series, Fanning plays Margo, a young woman who gets pregnant following an affair with her married English professor (Angarano) and finds herself struggling to make ends meet
In the Apple TV+ series, the pair play a couple and Angarano said it was ‘really fun.’
He noted that he was friends with Fanning before they were costars and he was ‘excited’ to work with her on the project.
‘We’ve known each other as friends, and, you know … I was really excited to do it with her because it’s such a complicated relationship,’ he said about his role as Mark and Fanning playing the titular character.
‘It’s so dimensional and heavy,’ he added about the premise of the story and their onscreen relationship.
‘I think the show does a really good job of this in general, where it presents very dysfunctional, flawed people but doesn’t really judge them,’ he added.
‘I think a lot of people would cast aspersions about their relationship,’ he continued.
‘It’s inappropriate. It’s many things, and he does not treat it well, but it was really fun. It was just a really fun thing to explore.’
Margo’s Got Money Troubles was adapted from Rufi Thorpe’s same-name novel.
