Jennie has previously said she and her husand Jim had their house overlooking the sea built from scratch in 2002.

She said: ‘Moving here was the main reason I quit as the BBC’s royal correspondent, but I had some memorable times.

‘Once, after doing a story at the Palace, I said to Princess Diana, “My God Ma’am, your legs look amazing, what tights do you wear?” She gave me a pair but I laddered them.

‘Then I was called to the Palace and given seven pairs of Aristoc blonde tights and a note saying, “I hope you see the amusing side of this package.” I still have these two pairs left.’

And speaking about her stint on I’m A Celebrity… in 2004, she said her husband wasn’t so keen at first.

She said: ‘He thought it would be degrading. But our daughter Emma loved the idea of me eating slugs in the jungle and Jim relented, so off I went to Australia.

‘Some of the trials might not be to everyone’s taste, but I helped raise over £250,000 for the Devon Air Ambulance as a result of all the people calling in to vote for me.

‘I finished runner-up and I’ve never regretted it because it opened up so many doors.’
